Lacquer A transparent protective coating material.

Lagging (Of Pipes) An insulating material covering, for hot water piping. Plumbers & Gasfitters

Laminated Beam A beam made up of several layers, of timber glued together with the grain in parallel. Carpenters & Joiners

Landing A level platform at the top of or of stairs and in front of door way entries.

Layout The plan or schedule of an internal layout of rooms.

Leaded Glass (Lead Lights) The joining of pieces of glass with strips of lead to form windows. Glass Fitters & Glaziers

Lining The lining or covering of an internal wall or ceiling.

Lintel A structural member spanning small openings to transfer loads. Carpenters & Joiners

Load Bearing Member A structural member to support vertical loads.

Load Bearing Wall A wall designed to support loads in addition to its own weight.

Lump Sum Contract A contract which the contractor agrees carry out specified works for lump sum amount.
